I have a fun collection for you today of winter-themed projects from some of my favorite bloggers! I am going to show you how to make these easy beaded snowflakes – they make great ornaments and decorations well beyond Christmas!
When you’re done checking out the tutorial, take a peek at what some of my friends have been up to – you can check out their blogs for more wintry goodness today! You may notice the #myfavoritebloggers hashtag on certain projects, and it’s our way of putting our projects “together”. Anytime you see it on social media (Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest) you can click on it to see more great projects from some really talented ladies who truly ARE my favorite bloggers!
But first things first – let’s make an easy, sparkling snowflake! What you will need:
- Wire snowflake forms
- Beads of your choice – a variety of shapes work well for this project, but you’ll need multiples of 6 (at least).
- Round-nosed pliers
This is a super flexible design, first of all. The only “rule” is that whatever you bead on your first spoke, you will need to repeat the pattern 5 more times. I used a variety of seed beads in different sizes, bugle beads, and round glass beads in shades of silver and blue. You can use whatever you like! You will just need to make sure that your ending bead has a small enough hole that the beads won’t slip off.
Add your beads to the wire form. When you get to the end, use your round-nosed pliers to make a loop to finish it off. Repeat for each arm of the snowflake. And really – that is it!! If your kids are old enough not to poke themselves with the wire form, this can be a really fun craft to do together. Just a caution, though – work on just one arm at a time, and hold it firmly upright. I dumped my beads (more than once, actually – you’d think I would learn…) when I wasn’t being careful. Oops. :)
All that’s left is to add an ornament hanger or a ribbon to finish it off! You could also attach snowflakes together with ribbon or even jump rings to make a fun winter garland!

I had NO IDEA they made wire snowflake forms. Oh my goodness. And that little organizer with nothing but blue beads? Awesome. You can tell I’m not a jewelry crafter.

Love this, where did you get the snowflake forms?

Shannon, I order from Consumer Crafts for most of my craft supplies these days – they have awesome prices and run frequent shipping deals. Here is a link to the ones I bought: http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/jewelry-beads-bead-kits/1956-18 – they are 6-inch. They make them in other sizes as well.
Shannon says
Thank you very much! I will check that out.

I’m getting error messages for a lot of the links–Ice Skates and Boredom Busters, for example. Will those bloggers post later today? I don’t see those posts on their blogs.
Adrianne says
Hi Gina – yes! Check back soon. I think my west-coast friends might not quite be ready. ;)
