I have a fun earring tutorial for you today, some cascading dangle earrings. It’s an easy jewelry project that uses beads and chain to give different lengths to beaded charms. (Yes, we’re making yet more charms today – if you have tried some of my other projects, you are practically a pro at charms by now, right? Haha!) If you ARE pretty well-versed at charms, you’ll find these earrings make up in about 10 minutes! (If not – no worries, just a little bit of practice is all it takes!)
What you will need:
- Earring wires
- Chain (this can be loose chain or reclaimed from an old or broken necklace – you need roughly 5 total inches of chain to replicate this look)
- Jewelry head pins
- 8 beads – 6mm is a good size, it’s what I used
- Jump rings – these are 6mm but anything smaller would also work
- Round jewelry pliers
- Wire cutters
Create your charms. To do this, thread a bead onto a head pin, and wrap the end around your round pliers, creating a loop. Now, wrap the excess around the “neck” of the loop you created a couple of times, closing it off.
Nip off the excess with your wire cutters. I made 8 charms. You can experiment with more or less too!
Cut your chain into 4 staggered lengths. Mine are roughly 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch. 3/4 inch and 1 inch. Attach them to an earring wire with a jump ring. Then, attach a bead charm to the end of the each chain.
Now, just repeat the process for your other earring! ( Be sure to add your chains in the opposite order for the second earring!)
And that is it! Different kinds of beads will give you a different look, so you can make several different looks from one technique. You can easily add a little (or a lot!) of sparkle to any outfit!

Very pretty! I like earrings with different lengths. I’ll have to save it on my to-do list after the boy are out of the ‘tug your ear off’ stage.
