So I keep telling myself that I want to learn crochet. Mainly because in my crafty circles, I am surrounded by some amazing talent. I LOVE yarn crafts! Do you? There are still about 6 weeks until Christmas, and that’s enough time to work on some basics – or hone the skills you already have. Today I want to share some of the resources I’ve been collecting in my crochet curiosity!
First of all – the basics. Amy over at One Artsy Mama has a Crochet 101 ebook available for free download. Especially if you prefer to print a tutorial, this is a great place to start. You can make this adorable coffee cozy even if you have never crocheted before:
Another crocheted item I adore is the infinity cowl, and Kadie over at 7Alive has a beautiful free pattern for a chunky infinity cowl. (I know firsthand, because I have a gorgeous green one in real life that she sent me!!) She has several free patterns available, and even put together a great round-up of her best quick crocheted Christmas gift ideas for friends and family members of all ages.
If you are a seasoned yarnie, my friend Kara at Petals to Picots sells some gorgeous original patterns in her shop, like this baby clutch ball. It’s a yarn version of the classic fabric Amish Puzzle Ball, and it’s perfect for little hands. Kara also has a collection of over 75 free patterns on her blog.
And the real reason I want to learn crochet… hats. The adorable character hats. For my adorable children’s adorable heads. Like the ones Sarah at Repeat Crafter Me continually offers for free at her blog.
Sarah has all kinds of free patterns available on her blog, not just hats… but seriously, these hats! I need to get my hands on a hook and get to work!
Do you crochet? How did you get started? Are you making any yarn gifts this year?
