I found it at Wal-Mart – the Better Homes and Gardens line has some really great scents. This one was Candied Caramel Pecan, and it was just $5. And I was really pleased to discover – the label peeled right off cleanly.
To match our living room, I used a frosty blue, and a glitter bronze color with a doily screen stencil. These are part of the Martha Stewart Glass paint line.
There are a few ways you can use the silkscreens, but the one I like best is the little spatula. It spreads really easily over the stencil – just smooth it out and make sure all the areas are covered. (I smoothed it out better than this after the photograph, this is just to show you how to use it.)
Then, peel the silkscreen off right away while the paint is still wet.
Between each use, I did rinse off the stencil with warm water, and as soon as it dried, I moved onto the next area to paint. Because I wasn’t overlapping any same-colored designs, I did all the blue stencils in about 10 minutes, then let it dry for another 30 minutes.
Then, I went over it with the bronze glitter paint using the same technique, overlapping anywhere I thought it would look good.
I couldn’t wait to light it up – it smelled so yummy, and the price was SO much better than the big brands.
I’m really digging this Caramel Candied Pecan scent – it smells like I’ve been baking (without the work OR the calories, LOL). What’s your favorite fall scent?
