Today’s project is a fun kids’ craft using just a few inexpensive supplies. My daughter and I had lots of fun making up a few of these popsicle stick spiderwebs from yarn and craft sticks. They are great for Halloween fun!
My daughter isn’t quite 3, so the yarn wrapping was a bit much for her level of coordination. But the spiderwebs make up quickly and she had a great time adding the spiders to the webs.
Yes, that is what we did with messy hair and chocolate faces. You just aren’t going to see the photo of me looking that way. (It’s called Saturday morning, and we were doing more important things.) ;)
Anyway – it’s a really simple craft and probably fairly self-explanatory just seeing the photo. But I’ll give you the run-down of how to make some with your kiddos if you want a little more instruction!
What you will need:
- Craft/popsicle sticks – I used the notched kind for this project. You need 3 for each web.
- Glue – I like this water-based superglue, but any craft glue will work just fine.
- Yarn in your choice of color(s) – each web takes about 3 feet.
- Scissors.
- Optional spiders.
First, glue 3 sticks together to form your web base. A dot of glue in the center of each stick should suffice, but you will have to let them dry for a little bit (at least 30 minutes).
Once dry, tie your yarn onto the innermost notch on one of the sticks. Then, work your way around, wrapping the yarn around each stick at the notch. When you get to the end, tie the other end of your yarn in a knot to secure it to the stick.
Cut off the excess and add your spiders, if you want to. These can be hung up for Halloween decor, add them to your mantel, or just let your kids play with them – it’s up to you!

These are so awesome! Do you think it would work to use normal craft sticks? ‘Cause I have a bazillion of those already.
