This has been the summer of fixing up the main bathroom. Â It all started with me wanting a new faucet, and the project just got bigger and bigger and bigger. Â The good news is that it’s all done now! Â But as I was looking at my gorgeously neutral new room, I thought to myself, “Well, it’s a little bit ‘blah’ in here.” Â I am feeling that way about a few rooms right now, and I think it’s just those end-of-summer blues. Â So, to cheer it up a bit, I made a Target run to check out what’s new and cheerful in the bath department.
If you’re like me, and you hate to see summer come to an end, you can really turn things around by adding a pop of color to the rooms you use most often! Â A set of new throw pillows, a set of towels, or even a different bedding set all go a long way toward making a room brighter. Â You can hold on to the way summer makes you feel, even while you send kids back to school, and start settling into your fall routine.
Now, our main bathroom is tiny. Â But we have everything we need in there, so we make the best of our space. Â But small means that the shower curtain is the first thing you see. Â So I shopped for something bright! Â Because we don’t have a window in the room, I like a light or sheer curtain – otherwise the shower can get so dark when it’s closed. Â I love the leaf pattern on this Room Essentials shower curtain, so I chose that as my theme. Â The curtain is a mix of green and gray, so I balanced the bright green with a more muted dark gray.
I love the green glass in this apothecary jar and toothbrush holder by Threshold.  It’s enough color to be noticeable, but it’s not overly bright.  What do you think?
Now, I struggled a bit, trying to find a piece of art that would work with my color choices and theme – as you can imagine!  I LOVE Target’s art selection, but in this room, I needed something really specific.  So, I did what any good DIY-er would do, and I made something myself.  I’m not much of a painter, but I added some mixed media flair to my canvas, and I really like how it ties everything together!
The whole room just makes me feel happy, which is exactly the perk-up I need this time of year.
Oh – and would you like to see where we started, back in the spring?  Let me show you the room side by side!  We’ve definitely modernized, adding the second sink we’ve been wanting ever since we moved in.  We swapped out the mirror for a medicine cabinet, which meant we could get rid of the bulky over-toilet cabinet!  And we got rid of the aqua blue on the walls and opted for a warm gray instead (so the next time I get the itch to make a color change, it’s as simple as making another Target run).
IÂ outfitted our bathroom in the following Target Bath Accessories:
Room Essentials Shower Curtain in Leaf Green
Threshold Basic Shower Hooks
Room Essentials Fast-Dry Towels in Guacamole
Threshold Performance Towels in Hot Coffee
Room Essentials Toilet Lid Cover in Guacamole
Mohawk Home Memory Foam Bath Rugs in Elephant Gray
Threshold Antique Style Glass Apothecary Jar in Green
Threshold Antique Style Glass Toothbrush Holder
