If you feel like you missed out on the handmade Valentines with yesterday’s Silhouette-friendly post, don’t fret. I’ve got a fun handmade Valentine idea for you today, too. It does still require a machine, but today it’s your trusty sewing machine. ;)
I put these two cards together in about 10 minutes. So once you’ve got all your supplies out, this is a quick-moving project.
The first step is to print on your cardstock, if you want to. You can also stamp, stencil, or hand-letter them if you would prefer! I used a 8.5 x 11 sheet, and visually divided it into quarters to make two cards. The text goes on the right-most part of each card, which seems backward but when you fold it in half, it will make more sense. ;)
Then, take your trusty shape punch and cut out some hearts, flowers, or whatever shape you like. If you don’t want to invest in a shape punch, you can also cut them by hand.
Then, cut your cards apart horizontally. I love this font, it’s called Jive Talk, if you’re a font junkie. ;)
And figure out how you want to place your hearts. Set your sewing machine to the longest stitch possible, line it up, and run a line of stitching along the shapes. If you’re worried about them moving, you can add a tiny dot of glue to hold it in place while you work. If you do opt for the aid of glue, try to put it at the very top or bottom of your embellishment so that you’re not running your needle through it… glue is not good for sewing machines. ;)
And that’s it! You can write in it like any other card! It’s a super simple and quick Valentine with a sweet handmade touch. Are you making your valentines (or your kids’ valentines, haha) this year?

Oh, Oh, Oh, sewing your own cards…..I simply LOVE this! Any ideas on how to do some great lettering if there is no silhouette? I’d love to make some of these! I’m so glad you shared this at Loving Valentines Day!
TGIF!

How cute! I love that they are stitched. It’s such a nice touch. I used to put zines together and the last one I did I stitched the binding. Unfortunately I don’t have a sewing machine anymore.
