So Halloween is coming, not that I generally start getting ready for another month, but I spotted this snake clasp when I was shopping leather jewelry accessories, and I just HAD to get it. It’s equal parts interesting, cool, and slightly creepy to me – and understated enough to wear any day. This bracelet makes up SO easily – exactly like the 5-Minute Leather Bracelet design I shared last year, but with a really unique clasp. If you can measure, cut, and glue – you can make this as a fun Halloween accessory, or piece for any reptile lover! (And yes – I know they’re out there!)

I’m going to give you links to the products I used at Goody Beads in case you want this look for yourself! (If you make a purchase after you click through that does benefit my blog and no extra cost to you – just FYI. No pressure – but thanks for supporting even more free tutorials if this project ends up on your must-make list!)

- 5mm round leather in any color (I used the Whiskey color). You need about 14 inches, but to be safe, I’d advise buying 16 inches and trimming it down to fit you, in case your wrist is larger than mine.
- Snake Clasp
- 2-hole bead in a silver finish to match the clasp
- Leather Cutter
- Super New Glue
First, cut your leather. You can use regular scissors but I love this little leather cutter to get really clean, straight ends. I ended up using 13 3/4 inches for my wrist. I would start with 16 inches and test it out in case your wrist is larger than mine, but I think I’m pretty average. You can just trust me and cut it where I did if you like, or I’ll share with you how to tell how long you need it to be, next.

To try the size, slide the 2-hole bead onto each end of the leather, going most of the way toward the center of the length, forming a loop. Take a moment to slip the loop around the clasp and fit the ends into the hole in the clasp – you will be able to tell just how much to trim off.

When you’re happy with the length, add a few drops of glue to the hole in the bottom of the clasp, and insert the raw ends. It will be a snug fit – and that’s a good thing! It won’t slide out while it’s drying. But do be sure you get both ends in securely. Also, when you’re gluing, be sure to follow the natural curve of the leather (after having been coiled, it will probably hold a curve) and make sure that it bends in the right direction around the clasp.

The glue needs about 10 minutes to set, so while assembly takes 5 minutes or less, you want to wait a few minutes more before wearing it – but even that doesn’t need long!

So I’m curious to know – are you afraid of snakes? We don’t have any really dangerous ones where I live (and you don’t generally find them in unexpected places, either), so I kind of like them. I wouldn’t own one as a pet (I’m just not a fan of keeping animals that need to be in bowls, tanks, and cages) but they aren’t gross or scary to me, I’ve always kind of liked them!

I love your views, and I will share with my friends.
This was a solid read. I like how you got straight to the point but still left me with something to think about. Feels rare to come across a blog post that’s simple and thoughtful at the same time. Thanks for putting this out there.

Spotting the snake clasp with whiskey-colored leather made me think, what an intriguing combo! The steps are so straightforward-measure, cut, and glue. Who knew making jewelry could be this easy? And hey, it’s perfect for Halloween!
Seeing that snake clasp paired with a subtle whiskey-color leather, I thought, what a unique combo!
This is a fun and creative DIY tutorial! I love how the snake clasp adds a unique, slightly spooky touch, perfect for Halloween or reptile lovers. The instructions are clear and simple—basically just measuring, cutting, and gluing—so even beginners can try it. The tip about starting with a longer leather piece to adjust the fit is very practical. Overall, an easy and stylish project for anyone looking to make a quick accessory with a bit of an edge.
This snake clasp is a brilliant find! I love how such a simple “measure, cut, and glue” process creates such a stylish, high-end look for daily wear.
Love the snake clasp design, it has such a clean finish. The leather work reminds me of the handcrafted aesthetic you see in horror survival games. I write about atmospheric game design at my site covering Idols of Ash walkthroughs.
What a stylish DIY project! great!
The snake clasp is such a clever find, it really does elevate the whole thing beyond what you can do with a standard lobster clasp. The tip about starting with 16 inches and trimming down is the right approach, saved me from a too-tight bracelet more than once.

This is such a clever idea! I love that you found a snake clasp that works perfectly for Halloween but is subtle enough to wear year-round – that’s exactly the kind of accessory I’m always looking for. The fact that it uses the same simple technique as your 5-minute leather bracelet from last year makes it feel totally doable, even for someone like me who’s not super crafty. I’m definitely going to try this with the whiskey leather you mentioned!

This is such a cool find! I love how you described it as “equal parts interesting, cool, and slightly creepy” because that’s exactly the vibe I’m getting from the photos. I’ve been wanting to try that 5-minute leather bracelet technique you mentioned, and having a unique clasp like the snake would definitely make it feel more special than a basic design. Definitely adding this to my Halloween project list!
That snake clasp is such a cool find — it really elevates what would otherwise be a simple leather bracelet into something eye-catching. Love that it works as both a Halloween piece and an everyday accessory. The step-by-step photos make it look super approachable too!
This is such a cool idea! I love that you found a clasp that’s interesting enough to be the star of the bracelet rather than just functional. The snake theme is perfect for Halloween but like you said, it’s subtle enough that you could totally wear it year-round. I’m definitely going to try making this since I already have some leather scraps from your 5-minute bracelet tutorial – seems like the same basic process with a way better payoff!
I love this idea! The snake clasp is such a cool detail – it definitely has that perfect balance of creepy-cool that works for Halloween but doesn’t feel too costume-y for everyday wear. I’m going to have to track down that leather and give this a try since you make it sound so doable. Do you think the whiskey color would work well with other leather shades if someone wanted to mix and match, or does it look better as a solid piece?
This DIY snake clasp bracelet idea is so cool! I love how it’s both interesting and subtle enough for everyday wear. Halloween is the perfect excuse to try making something a bit creepy yet stylish. Can’t wait to give this project a shot!
This is such a cool project! I love that you found a clasp that’s creepy enough for Halloween but still wearable year-round – that’s exactly the kind of accessory I actually want to make. The fact that it uses the same basic technique as your 5-Minute Leather Bracelet makes it feel so doable, especially since I’m not super confident with crafting. I’m definitely going to grab some whiskey-colored leather and give this a try!
This is such a clever idea! I love that you found a snake clasp that works perfectly for Halloween but is still subtle enough to wear year-round. The fact that it uses the same basic technique as your 5-Minute Leather Bracelet makes it feel so accessible – I’m definitely going to try making one since I already have leather scraps lying around. Perfect timing since I’ve been looking for a unique DIY gift for my friend who’s obsessed with reptiles!
The snake clasp is such a clever detail — I love how it works both as a functional closure and a design statement. I’ve been experimenting with different clasp styles on leather projects and finding good hardware can be half the battle. For cutting leather cleanly I’ve also had luck scoring it first with a craft knife before trimming, especially on thicker cord. Do you find the glue holds up long-term with daily wear, or have you needed to reinforce it at all?
This is such a cool idea! I love that you found a snake clasp that works perfectly for Halloween but is subtle enough to wear year-round. The fact that it’s basically the same simple technique as your 5-minute leather bracelet makes it so much more doable for someone like me who’s not super crafty. I’m definitely going to try this – reptile jewelry is totally having a moment!
This snake clasp bracelet is such a clever design! I love how the leather wraps around to create the snake effect. Perfect project for using up scrap leather pieces.
This is such a cool idea! I love that you found a snake clasp and turned it into something wearable year-round instead of just for Halloween. The fact that it uses the same simple method as your 5-minute leather bracelet makes it so accessible – I’m definitely going to try this one since I already have some leather scraps lying around. The clasp really does add that perfect creepy-but-elegant vibe!
I love this unique snake clasp! How long did it take to make the bracelet? Would love to see more of your leather crafting videos.
That’s a really cool and unique bracelet! I love how you’ve combined leather and the snake clasp. It gives it a edgy and stylish vibe. I might try making one myself. Thanks for the inspiration!

Love this snake bracelet—especially how the coil curves into a subtle “head” at the end. When I try projects like this, I record a quick IG clip and save it offline with Instagram Downloader so I can pause and rewatch while I’m at the bench. Any tip for keeping the coils evenly spaced as the bracelet curves?

I love how you described the snake clasp as “equal parts interesting, cool, and slightly creepy” – that’s exactly the vibe I’m going for with my Halloween accessories this year! The fact that it’s understated enough to wear year-round is such a bonus too, since I’m not really one of those people who goes all-out decorating a month in advance. Definitely bookmarking this to make – the 5-minute leather bracelet format sounds perfect for someone like me who wants something homemade but doesn’t have a ton of crafting experience.
This bracelet is super cute and the clasp is definitely unique! Speaking of cool designs, have you ever seen what can be done with AI and dance
Ooh, a snake clasp bracelet sounds so cool! I love that it’s a bit creepy but still wearable every day. The fact that you spotted the clasp while shopping and were immediately inspired is a great sign. Looking forward to seeing how the bracelet turns out!

This is such a cool idea! I love how you mentioned the snake clasp is understated enough to wear year-round – I feel like a lot of Halloween DIY projects are way too over the top, but this one actually looks like something I’d genuinely want to wear in December too. The fact that it follows the same simple process as your 5-minute bracelet from last year is perfect because I already know I can handle the gluing part without messing it up!
Perfect for a quick break or a long study session.
I love how you described the snake clasp as “equal parts interesting, cool, and slightly creepy” – that’s exactly why I’m obsessed with it too! The fact that it’s understated enough to wear year-round is perfect because I hate those accessories that only work for one holiday. I’m definitely going to grab some whiskey-colored leather and give this a try since you mentioned it’s as simple as your 5-minute bracelet design from last year.
nice
This answered a question I’ve had for a while. Thanks!

The fact that it uses the same simple method as your 5-Minute Leather Bracelet design makes it feel totally doable for someone like me who’s not super crafty. I’m definitely going to try this – I’ve been looking for a unique reptile-themed accessory that doesn’t scream Halloween costume!
This is such a cool idea! I love that you found a snake clasp and made it work for a DIY bracelet project. The fact that it’s understated enough to wear year-round is perfect – I hate when Halloween stuff is so over-the-top you can only wear it for one month. I’m definitely going to try making this with the whiskey leather you mentioned, it sounds like it would have such a nice warm tone with a reptile clasp.
This is such a great, clear tutorial. I’ve been wanting to try using snake clasps, and your step-by-step photos make it look very approachable. I think I’ll use a darker stain for my first attempt.
This was exactly what I needed to read today. Thank you!
This snake clasp leather bracelet tutorial is such a win! I love how easy it is—literally just measure, cut, glue, and you’ve got a super cool accessory. The whiskey color leather is such a great choice, and the silver 2-hole bead adds the perfect little detail to match the clasp. I made mine over the weekend with just basic supplies, and it fits perfectly after trimming the 16-inch leather down a bit. The glue set fast (10 mins is no joke!) and it’s held up great for everyday wear—perfect for Halloween or just for reptile lovers like me. Thanks for the simple, awesome DIY—this is now my go-to casual bracelet! ??
This is such a cool idea! I love that you found a snake clasp and turned it into something wearable for everyday, not just Halloween. The fact that it uses the same simple method as your 5-minute leather bracelet makes it so accessible – I’m definitely going to try this since I already have leather scraps around. Perfect timing with Halloween coming up, but honestly the understated design makes it feel like something I’d want to wear year-round.
Love this snake bracelet—especially that snug, coiled look around the wrist. Quick question: have you found a toggle or a lobster clasp keeps the “head” from flipping less on a slimmer wrist? Lately I’ve been using quick AI mockups to preview silver vs. antique brass before I commit, and it’s saved me a redo or two.
This is such a cool project! I love that you found a snake clasp that’s creepy enough for Halloween but still wearable year-round – that’s the sweet spot for me too. The fact that it uses the same basic technique as your 5-minute bracelet makes it feel so doable, even for someone like me who’s not super crafty. I’m definitely going to pick up some leather and give this a try!
That snake clasp is such a cool find, and I love how understated the design is for something that fits the Halloween theme. Bringing back the 5-minute bracelet concept makes this a perfect weekend project since I already have some leather scraps sitting in my craft drawer.
The tip about sliding the 2-hole bead onto both ends first to test the fit before gluing is a real game-changer — I’ve ruined more than one bracelet by cutting the cord too short. The whiskey leather with a silver clasp sounds like a combination that ages beautifully. Definitely adding this to my weekend project list.
This is such a cool idea! I love how you described the snake clasp as being equal parts interesting and creepy – that’s exactly the vibe I want for Halloween accessories. The fact that it uses the same basic technique as your 5-Minute Leather Bracelet makes it feel totally doable, even for someone like me who gets intimidated by jewelry making. I’m definitely grabbing some whiskey colored leather to try this!

Love how you found that snake clasp! It sounds super unique – interesting, cool, and even a little creepy, but still wearable everyday, just like you said. I totally get the “just HAD to get it” feeling for craft supplies. Can’t wait to see the full Happy Hour Project come together!
The fact that this looks polished but only needs measuring, cutting, and gluing makes it super beginner-friendly.

Waiting about ten minutes for the glue to set seems pretty reasonable for such a quick project. I like crafts where you can finish something wearable in one evening.
The whiskey-colored leather you mentioned sounds like it would look great with the silver snake clasp. I’m tempted to try a darker leather just to see how different it looks
I tried making leather bracelets before but never thought to use a two-hole bead to form the loop like you showed. That seems like a really neat trick to get the sizing right.
The tip about starting with around 16 inches of leather and trimming it down after testing the fit was really helpful. I always end up cutting cords too short the first time.
I love the idea of using a snake clasp for a leather bracelet, it gives such a cool little twist to a really simple design. I didn’t realize it could be assembled in just a few minutes.
That snake clasp strikes the perfect balance between spooky and subtle—I could totally see wearing this long after October ends. It’s dangerous to know this comes together as quickly as your 5-minute bracelet design because now I have no excuse not to make one. I need to track down one of these clasps before Halloween sneaks up on me.

It reminded me of when I once made a beaded bracelet for a friend but spent more time fixing the clasp than stringing the beads. Still, the final piece was worth it. Share this crafty spark around, maybe tucked into a Slither io conversation.
Okay, snakes and bracelets? A quirky combo, I must admit! My mind immediately jumps to Indiana Jones. Seriously, that snake clasp is calling my name. This is giving me a throwback to that time I tried making friendship bracelets in elementary school but totally botched the knots. The results were less chic, more tangled mess, so don’t let me near anything resembling a Geometry Dash of crafting. I gave them away.
The bracelet is so beautiful, I like it.
