5-Day Challenge: Heal Your Winter Skin

This post brought to you by Vaseline. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Happy Hour Projects.

So.  I live in Michigan.  And it’s already snowing here.  So you can imagine, “winter skin” is something I battle for pretty much half the year, haha.  Last week, Vaseline sent me a care package laying out a 5-Day challenge to pamper myself, and see what 5 days of Intensive Care Advanced Repair lotion looks like on my winter-even-though-the-calendar-says-fall skin.  I got some great goodies (yes, they even put my name on that fabulous cocoa mug) and put my new lotion to the test!

My daughter wanted in on it, too, which I thought was great!  She’s been complaining about itchy skin, too – ever since we turned the furnace on.  Honestly, I haven’t pushed any sort of skin care on her (beyond the battle of the brushed teeth, I let a lot slide), so to see her enthusiastic about caring for herself, and doing this together was awesome.  Though to be honest, she may have been doing it *just* for the cocoa.  Hey – whatever works!

She was really curious about how it worked (and I bet you’re wondering, too).  So let me give you the scoop on how Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair lotion does its job: it contains healing micro-droplets of Vaseline Jelly – so it’s more than just lotion.  They work deeply to heal dry skin in just 5 days – and keep it healed for up to 3 weeks.  They also offer a fragrance-free formula – because so many of us in need of healing have sensitive skin already!  I explained to Raya that it helps keep our skin soft, and keeps us from feeling so itchy.

At which point, we celebrated with cocoa.

Not only did Vaseline send Intensive Care Advanced Repair Fragrance Free lotion to make our skin feel luxurious, but they also sent a decadent Godiva cocoa mix – and big puffy marshmallows!  (And from now on, I think every hashtag should come in marshmallow form.)  What a great motivator – Raya has reminded me every night that it’s time for our lotion.  I got total dedication from this one:

At the end of our 5 days, it was time to test my results.  I could feel a difference – but included in the kit was a way to actually measure how much my skin had healed.  Ready to see what 5 days can do?

Seriously – wow!  I started somewhere between dry and very dry – that’s flaky skin on the before strip.  By the end, my skin was totally healed.  And the 5-day challenge was also a great way to develop a better skin care habit – both for me, and for my daughter.  And best of all, we love a product that’s really affordable (the MSRP for the 10-oz bottle is just $4.99)!

Do you struggle with your winter skin, too?  Would you try a 5-day challenge?

It’s amazing how dry my skin becomes once the furnace kicks on. I’ve got to try this lotion from vaseline…..you definitely had great results! Also, those marshmallows! :)

This is the first year I’ve had “winter skin”. Guess the age is catching up with me. Tell Vaseline a coupon would be nice. Thanks for your posts. Enjoy learning so much from you!

There is Vaseline in it, so it feels a little bit oily when you first put it on – I preferred to do it right before bed. But seriously, if you have that very dry skin, this is the best lotion I have found for quick repair (and it doesn’t smell)!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
