I’ve got another fun glue-and go handmade jewelry tutorial for you today made from your leftover scraps of leather, and this fun tiny buckle connector that I found. This is another one in the running for easiest-DIY-ever – in literally just minutes, you can make one of these for yourself. Or a bunch. In fact, I would bet you could make one in less time than it takes you to read this post. Ready to take a look?

I make a lot of my leather jewelry projects with supplies I get at Goody Beads, so I’ll leave you a few links here in case you’re trying to locate this awesome little buckle. It’s not a true clasp – it doesn’t open and close, but it’s got the look! You can get the look too – and if you decide to make a purchase using any of these links, it supports my blog (thank you, by the way).
Here’s what you will need to make a buckle ring:
- Buckle connector
- Jewelry glue (I prefer Super New Glue – it’s inexpensive and it works well)
- Scraps of leather – Raid your stash. The connector will accommodate up to 12mm wide leather. I used two 5mm flat leather scraps and a 2mm round scrap. Whatever you use, it will need to be about 2.5 inches long to form your ring. 3 inches would be ideal because you can always trim it down, you can’t add length.
- Optional – leather cutter and/or ring sizer

So, first things first. Glue your leather into one end of the buckle. Hold it for about 30 seconds, until it “grabs on”. It doesn’t have to be totally dry, it just needs to be secure enough that the leather doesn’t just fall out while you’re working.

Now, measure your ring around a ring sizer to decide how big you need it to be. If you’re looking for something fairly universal, try making a size 7, which means you’ll need to measure 2 1/8 inches from the edge of the clasp down the leather. Bear in mind that part of that length will be glue into the clasp.

The best way to make sure you cut the leather evenly is to use a leather cutter, but if you don’t have one, it’s not essential. I have it. I like it a lot. It makes the job go more easily. But scissors can cut leather too.
Glue the other end into the buckle.
Don’t get it too short… like I did. I was going for a 7.5. Whoops. And that’s what I get for making it in 2 minutes. But the good news is, I’m passing my mistake along to you as a caution.

It’s still a great ring! But my ring finger is too big for a size 6.75. (And bear in mind that with wear, tight leather does stretch just a tiny bit. So if it’s snug, it will still loosen up ever so slightly.) So this gets to be a gift to a smaller-statured friend, is all. Or I can sport it on my pinky, which is slightly less fashionable.

But, moving on. This was still a really cute, and really fun jewelry design! I am envisioning red round leather instead of the black for a really festive design. Or change up the colors completely, maybe your favorite pastel with a band of silver down the middle. Or use 10mm flat leather!

I’d love to hear how you guys make this your own, so drop me a note if you try it!

Some examples are perhaps someone asking to get land for usage just as one
allotment so it is bought cheaply. The GPS or World wide Positioning System has assisted surveyors
by providing them the opportunity to survey huge areas with overwhelming accuracy.

It is climbing the ladder of inflation, and may not be known as an inexpensive replacement
for purchasers. Benefitted with up-to-the-mark
infrastructure and tremendous commercial development, the city is really
a spectator of some of the prestigious residential and commercial
projects. There will likely be certain houses that fall in your price range and some that could be too expensive.
This is how it is possible to achieve almost all of the objectives you
have in mind. Maintenance on the properties is
essential when attemping to square out from your
competition. But then with the end of your pursuit for
available properties for sale out there, you seek to get a
property that will fit yourself and needs on the price it is possible to afford.
I cannot find this buckle for sale anywhere.
Any suggestions? Goody beads says it is not available for sale.
Looking at the buckle clasp, is the arc open enough to be used for a bracelet? I don’t really do many bold rings, but I do love me some bracelets! And I would just LOOOVE to make this into a bracelet, but I’m worried that the buckle wouldn’t sit quite flat enough. What is your opinion being that you have one in hand?
Oh, and I do realize the buckle isn’t functional, and would need to use a different closure. ;)
Sorry for the delay in replying, Giina! (Holiday chaos.) So, I don’t think the arc is flat enough for a bracelet. However, there are some other really great leather accessories that are perfect for bracelets. I shop Goody Beads all the time for leather jewelry projects and you can find some pretty clasps that are both functional and decorative. This is one of my favorite buckle-type clasps: https://www.goodybeads.com/store/products/A017215.htm and that would work much better for what you’re describing.
Love the Buckle Ring. Leave it to Goody to com out with something so cute. Thanks for all your posts. I enjoy them and look forward to seeing them every day! One question, your email link takes me to a different page that makes it very difficult to see your blog through the moving ads. I don\’t see the link to the desk top option. Do you have a suggestion of how to get to a better view? Just typing this is slow and difficult. Thanks for any help you can provide and all your wonderful creations!
I never would have thought to make a ring out of leather scraps….GENIUS!
So, I can wear a 6.5. Just saying. In case you ever wondered.
