I want to share a special craft time I was able to enjoy with my daughter last weekend when my husband was stuck at work. A lot of you know, my daughter isn’t *quite* old enough to craft much with me yet; I do most of my projects after she has gone to bed! But recently, I pinned a great suggestion for fingerpainting without the mess. And with the two of us able to enjoy a girls’ day – it seemed like the perfect time to try it out!
Well, she loved it after I gave her a paintbrush, anyway. She hates getting messy, so she wouldn’t even touch it with her fingers!
We went with a smaller version of the setup I saw originally, posted at The Hippie Housewife:
All you do is slide a piece of paper into a ziploc baggie (I trimmed it down to fit, of course):
Add a little paint (all I had on-hand were acrylics, but they worked just fine for some light-duty play), and tape it onto your work surface.
Then just let your kiddo paint! Raya “painted” for a good 30 minutes – that’s a lot of concentration for someone 17 months old. :)
She’s thinking about touching it with one finger here… she never did get the courage, though.
Let me show off one more thing before you’re off to enjoy the rest of your day: they made gifts with the kids at school for Mother’s Day. So on Friday, I picked her up and received this:
This was apparently also intended to come with a handprint… and wouldn’t you know, she refused to touch the paint there, too. That’s okay, I still get cute photos of her after she played so hard her hair got all messy. ;)

I also link up to these great parties!~ Adrianne

This is a fantastic way for little ones to “paint”!
I'd love if you'd link up at my Teaching Time for Toddlers post–it's open all week!

LOVE your new Mother's Day gift…doesn't get any more precious than that! I really like this no mess paint idea. I'm babysitting a newly turned three year old tonight and was trying to think of something fun I could do with her. I think I may have just stumbled on what to do…thanks to you sharing at Show & Tell.

This is the best way for the kiddos to paint!! I did this a few months ago and my kids loved it as well!! I like how you put the paper inside the baggie! Your daughter is adorable by the way! Thanks so much for entering this into the Project Pinterest Challenge! Best of Luck!!

Hmmm I think I'm going to try this right now! Great post :)
I LOVE this idea! How cool!!! I know I'm supposed to LOVE finger painting since I'm a teacher – mom, but I sort of don't like paint EVERYWHERE. Thanks for the great idea. :-)

Oh my! You have some amazing ideas! thank you so much for sharing!
Oh and, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
What a fantastic idea!! My 5 year old might get annoyed that he can't touch the paint but the 2 and 1 year old are going to LOVE this!! I think we are going to do this one tomorrow. BTW I love that she wont touch paint not even when it's in the bag. None of my kids have been that way.:)
Cute idea- mine would have loved that a few months ago!
LOL – I love that she refused to put her hand in the paint at school. Nice photos though and sweet idea. Love your painting idea and how awesome that she painted for 30 minutes. I didn't think kiddos that age did ANYTHING for 30 minutes, lol. Happy Mother's Day.
OH MY GOSH!!! I cannot wait to try this with my DGD….she is 20 months old and if it would keep her occupied for 15 minutes I would be happy! We tried to do valentine handprints with paint and she HATED it!!! So this might be just the ticket! TFS!
I wish I had thought of this when Peter was little. Would have saved me hosing down the high-chair, great idea! Happy Mother's Day!
Too PRECIOUS!!! Happy Mothers Day!
