Glitter Glam Feather Magnets & Xyron Creative Station Giveaway

Hey guys!  I’ve got a fast and fun project to share with you today – these die-cut glitter magnets make up in just 2 minutes, and they will add a bit of glam to your locker, desk, refrigerator or white board.  Xyron Creative Station is sponsoring today’s project and giveaway, and I’m going to show you just how the newly re-designed Creative Station works to make magnets!  Can you believe that I only added scrapbook paper to make these?

Glitter Glam Feather Magnets at www.happyhourprojects.com | Die-cut magnets in any shape you want with the Xyron Creative Station

So, there is really nothing to this project.  If you don’t own a die-cutting machine, that’s okay, because you can easily cut your magnets with scissors, or you can even use large scrapbooking punches instead.  Seriously, when I show you just how easy it is to turn your business card or your favorite shape or logo into an instant magnet, you’re going to want to do it all the time!  I’ll leave a few affiliate links in the supply list below, so that you can check out the products or do a little bit of shopping.

For these glam magnets, I used the following supplies:

  • Scrapbook paper in glittering pink and pearlescent green
  • The Xyron Creative Station and Xyron 5″ Magnet Cartridge (9″ will also work!)
  • Sizzix Big Shot and acrylic cutting pads
  • Sizzix Bigz Feather Duo die by Tim Holtz
  • Optional: Bone folder

I’ve got a quick video overview to give you a quick tour of the Xyron Creative Station, how to change cartridges, set it up for use, and how to make a full project – all in about 4 minutes.  You don’t even need to plug this machine in, which means it’s totally portable, and there’s virtually no prep when you sit down to create (and you all know how important a quick craft session is to me)!

Because I’ve chosen papers that shine, it’s a little hard to see that the scrapbook paper is sealed between a magnetic backing and a glossy laminate finish.  I die-cut mine after using the creative station, but you can just as easily put pre-cut shapes through the cartridge and trim around them with a pair of scissors to make your own designs!

You can make more than just magnets with the Creative Station – it’s perfect for creating your own stickers!  If you’re a paper crafter, you know what a time-save that can be to die-cut (or hand-trim) a special shape that’s immediately ready to stick on rather than dealing with the mess or the drying time of glue.  You can also create light-duty laminated projects – without heat.  And because it can accommodate papers up to 9 inches wide, you can print your own stickers, labels and more on your home printer, and run the whole sheet through the Creative Station to make your project.

The new design can accommodate two sizes of cartridges, 5 inch and 9 inch, and you can change them mid-project if you need to, without waste.  They’re designed for quick changes!  You can get laminate, temporary bond adhesive, permanent adhesive, and of course, magnet cartridges, so this little machine can do quite a lot.

If you’re getting excited about what the Xyron Creative Station can do, then I’ve got good news for you – a Happy Hour Projects reader will WIN one of the babies in today’s giveaway.  Yeah!  Make sure you’re following along on Xyron’s social channels listed below, and then the Rafflecopter widget will walk you through how to get entered to win a Xyron Creative Station starter kit.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
