Sports Party Ideas | Plan It Like a Champ!

Hey friends!  If you’re looking for sports party ideas for your favorite team – young and old alike! – you’re going to love today’s post sponsored by EVITE and Olive Garden.

Start with the invitations!

Set the tone for the party with a great free printable invitation from the EVITE Sports and Leagues invitation gallery.  A great time to plan the party is for a normal practice or game time, since most families already have those days blocked off for the season.  My kids are still young, so I always appreciate knowing if I can bring little brother along too, or whether I can drop my daughter off – so if you’re planning a kids’ event then be sure to share that info too.

Decor is easier than you think.

A quick run to the party supply store will score you plenty of themed decor.  Balloons or streamers in team colors pull the theme together, and you can add the free “Go Team” banner from EVITE for an easy DIY touch!  Pick disposable cups, plates, and tablecloths in team colors, or match them to the sport.  (And with disposables, cleanup is so much easier!)

Choose an easy menu.

Don’t kill yourself in the kitchen preparing for the party! Pasta, chicken and sandwiches (such as Olive Garden’s five-cheese ziti, chicken parmigiana and breadstick sandwiches) are big hits with every crowd.

Offer the kiddos mini bottles of sports drinks, and put plenty of beer on ice for the grown-ups (who have worked just as hard to get kids to practice all season – which you parents know is a challenge of its own!)

And don’t forget dessert!  No celebration would be complete without it!  Olive Garden’s dolcini is individually sized and easy to serve.

Set up some easy activities.

For younger kids, try sport-specific versions of pin the tail on the donkey with some free printables from EVITE, like pin the ball on the soccer player’s foot!  For older kids, try some sports trivia.  You can even ask for help with these activities from team parents, who are often happy to help with a little bit of low-cost or no-cost prep work.

Photo booths are always a hit, and it’s a great thing for parents to add to photo albums or share with relatives.  EVITE has a great collection of free photo booth printable props – just print, cut, and attach them to small wooden dowels that you can find at nearly every craft store.

End it on a high note.

Give out trophy party favors, or have the coach give a short speech recognizing how much the team improved throughout the season!

It’s hard not to laugh at ragdoll archers in the middle of combat especially when they win by a lucky falling shot

Using a free printable invitation from EVITE’s Sports and Leagues gallery is a great way to set the tone and make it easy for everyone to stay organized. Planning around practice or game times is a smart move since families already have those days scheduled.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
