Easy Curved Clasp Leather Bracelet

Today’s bracelet project is another quick and easy handmade accessory, and it’s another find from Goody Beads.  I LOVE their leather supplies for jewelry making.  The specialty clasps and findings are things I haven’t seen in my local shops.  This bracelet is one of those where the clasp totally makes the bracelet.  And all you need to be able to do is cut some cord, string a few beads, and glue it together to make one for yourself.  Even if you’ve never made jewelry, you can do this yourself in ten minutes or less!

What you will need:

• Curved Clasp for 2mm leather
• 9-11 inches of 2mm round leather – mine is turquoise but you can use any color you like!
• A few 6mm large hole beads (these have about a 3mm hole)
• Jewelry Super Glue

First, you will want to measure the leather against your wrist.  You can size this however you like, depending if your wrist is larger or smaller.  I used about 9 inches, but it’s always better to trim it down of you have too much than to find you need more after you have already cut it.

Double your leather cord, and slide your beads onto both strands, moving the farthest one almost to the loop.  It will be a really snug fit – that’s why they work so well for keeping your cords in place and they won’t slide around much.  So expect a little resistance, but two 2mm cords do fit.  I added 3 to my bracelet – feel free to use more or less.

Now, take a moment to double-check your length.  Loop the leather loop around the hook part of your clasp, wrap it around your wrist, and see if you need to trim excess leather.  You will only need about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch (roughly 6-12mm) excess to be glued inside the end of the clasp.

Now, add a few drops of glue into the end of the hook clasp.  Feed the ends of your leather cords into the end, and set it aside to dry.  It will start to bond right away, but leave it for at least an hour before you wear it to be sure it’s fully dry.

To put it on (and take it off), just loop the leather over the hook on the clasp!  It’s such a simple style and easy to make with this gorgeous clasp.  It’s also a great size for layering and stacking, if you love arm candy. ;)
