A Blue Birthday Party

Hey friends!  I’ve got some fun projects to share this week, but I haven’t had much time to write!  The first week of August is always busy around here – but FUN busy!  My son and I have birthdays about a week apart, and we just threw him a little party over the weekend.  I’m not one to have a big Pinterest party I’m more about keeping things simple and enjoying the day – but I still want to share a couple of photos of a really beautiful day.

I picked up some balloons from our local party supply store, assembled some paper rosettes, printed my own invitations and silverware pouches.

My favorite touch of the party was the last-minute decision to order customized lollipop party favors (from Lollipics.com).  Those were as much a hit with the adults as they were with the kids!

We set up our pop-up awning and a couple tables, ordered a cake, grilled some burgers, and enjoyed a perfect summer day… gosh, I can’t believe my son is already TWO!

I didn’t even make the cake. :) We just ordered from Costco and called it good!

The kids loved it, and I loved not baking, and not stressing.  I enjoyed the day so much!  So if you ever get intimidated by the fancy party photos – forget it!  You can still throw a great-looking party that you can actually enjoy.  Just find a couple details that are important to you, and focus your effort there.  Set a budget and a time limit that you’re willing to spend, and then find a way to make the details of the day fit into your plan, instead of letting your plan dictate your day.  I spent an hour earlier in the week assembling the decor pieces, and then 30 minutes that morning setting up.

It was a beautiful day… and I’m just not motivated to get back in the swing of things, haha.  But I do have a couple of very cool projects coming up in the next couple days, so I promise to make time to sit down and write.  Thanks for joining me for today’s recap – I love sharing the fun moments with you guys, and this summer has been full of them.  It’s been awesome!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
