Books and Birthdays, Art and Undertakings

So I’ve been busy.  It was just my son’s birthday, and mine is coming up this weekend.  I’ve been playing with a new crafty tool (that I can’t wait to show you next week), and I just got a new book by my favorite author and haven’t even gotten past chapter 6 yet.  My daughter’s very first day of school is one month away.  It’s been a whirlwind of a summer, and I’m LOVING it.  Pause for a photo to mark this feeling down.

My kids are growing by leaps and bounds.  I can’t even believe it.  In fact, I’m so grateful to be here to see it, because I would normally miss all this.  I still can’t believe I get to be home now!  I’ve still got plenty of work to do from here (in fact, I’ve got my favorite jewelry project to date to share with you tomorrow!!) but it’s the best job ever, it doesn’t even feel like work.  How did I get so lucky?

In another 6 weeks, I’ll be participating in ArtPrize 2014 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  It’s the largest art competition of its kind.  I shared my piece, Tree at Dawn, a few months ago. I’m thrilled to tell you guys that I’ll be part of the 12-piece collection at San Chez Bistro next month!  I’m so excited to be accepted at such a great venue.  If you will be in the area at all, look me up.  I’d love to connect.

So that’s what’s keeping me busy around here.  It may look like a quiet week around here from the outside, but there’s so much great stuff going on that I’ve barely had time to sit down at the computer to share it. :)  But – I will see you tomorrow for another great project!

So what’s the highlight of your summer?  Leave me a note in the comments and let me know!  I hope you’re enjoying your summer as much as I am. :)

Hi Cindy, thanks for the note!

I did post kind of an overview when I first shared my entry, you can take a look at that here: http://happyhourprojects.com/tree-at-dawn-mosaic/

This is the second time I’ve made a mosaic like this. The first (much smaller) one I made is here: http://happyhourprojects.com/glass-tile-tree-mosaic/

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
