Candy Corn Shrink Plastic Bracelet

I had a lot of fun putting together today’s project. It’s meant to be fun and a little bit silly and a piece you can wear for Halloween.  It’s also an inexpensive project that doesn’t take many supplies – especially if you already have shrink plastic and markers in your craft stash!

What you will need:

  • White Shrink Plastic
  • Orange and Yellow permanent markers
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • 15mm jump rings
  • Clasp
  • Small pliers

First, trace, color, and cut your candy corn shapes on your shrink plastic.  Mine are about 2.25 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall.  I made 10 of them at this size to be the right finished length.

Next, punch two holes on each side of your shapes with a standard hole punch.

Bake your shrink plastic according to the package directions.  Time and oven temperature will vary by brand, but you can expect the bake time to take approximately 3 minutes.

You will have some nice small plastic charms when you are finished!  Now, use large jump rings to attach the charms together, alternating them upside down and right side up.

When you reach the end – attach your clasp to one end, and a blank ring to the other.  (At this point I wished I had thought ahead and punched just ONE hole in the end charms, but it still worked just fine.)

Now you can wear and enjoy it!

It does, especially on shrink plastic, because it’s baked on, in addition to being designed to be permanent!

I have not created with shrinky dinks in a long time and this post along with your hunger games locket has me looking through my craft supplies to see if I still have some shrinky dink material!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
