Classic Waffles

There is really only one thing we ever make at home for breakfast (no, not cereal, give me a tiny bit more credit, LOL) – waffles.  My husband has this weird fascination with the waffle iron… which is fine because that means that every so often, I get breakfast served to me. ;)

Classic Waffles

I mix up the batter, and he bakes them.

Classic Waffles

My daughter mans the powdered-sugar station.

Classic Waffles

This is family time at its best. ;)

Ingredients
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
Instructions
  1. Preheat your waffle iron and spray with nonstick spray. Blend together your eggs, milk, butter, sugar, and vanilla.
  2. Sift together the flour and baking powder, then stir into your other mixture.
  3. Pour onto the iron and bake until done - this will vary depending on your iron. In our house, one waffle takes about 4 minutes. When it easily lifts off the iron with a fork, it's ready.

I literally forgot to add the eggs. They still came out perfect and delicious. Next time I’ll experiment with adding fruit. This is my new fav recipe!

Great recipe! I love making waffles with my family too! I’m always trying new recipes and this is the easiest one that everyone loved! Thank you! I followed your directions for the first batch, then for the second experimented by adding in chopped apple and some apple pie spice and subbing some whole wheat flour for the white flour. It was great! Hope you don’t mind if I share this recipe on my Tasty Tuesday blog soon.

I love love love Waffles but what I like even better is breakfast crepes…the thinner, the better. My mama is the only one that has even made crepes that I would have to say I would die for :-)

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
