Golf Cupcakes

If you’re looking for Freestyle Friday, click here!  I also have a giveaway running until Tuesday!

So yesterday I showed you the cupcakes-in-a-jar I made, but I didn’t show you my leftovers.  I had 9 cupackes left that I frosted up and decorated for my husband, the cake-a-holic:
I’d say he’s an avid golfer… but his passion is more the outing than the golfing.  He’s a fan of [ahem] celebrating going golfing moreso than golfing itself.  Still, I thought he’d appreciate 9 holes of his very own.
I just covered the frosting in green sugar, and cut triangles out of scrapbook paper and used scrapbooking adhesive (the double-sided sticky stuff) to wrap them around toothpicks.  I made a couple cupcakes have brown sugar sand traps.  I even accidentally dropped one of the balls into the sand trap… you know, just like when I go golfing for real.  *sigh*
(Incidentally, the “balls” are actually princess pearls from a Disney Princess decorator mix that I found at the grocery store.  Don’t tell my husband.  Princess pearls are definitely not manly.)
As you can see, I’m obviously no pro decorator, but these were certainly a big hit for being leftovers!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
