Stamped and Enameled Great Lakes Necklace

08/19/2015 by Adrianne Surian 5 Comments

Hey guys!  I went mixed-media crazy the other day, and made up a stamped and enameled necklace inspired by my home state (shout out to my fellow Michiganders)!  This is a really special piece to me made of all my favorite things!  It’s jewelry, it’s stamped, riveted, cold enameled, AND it’s my beautiful home.

I was invited to share a project over at Craft Paper Scissors as part of their jewelry around the world series.  I am NOT a world-traveler (although I so wish I were!) but I have traveled my home state pretty extensively.  If you haven’t visited Michigan before, put it on your list.  We have gorgeous sand beaches on the west coast and amazing rock formations up north.  We’ve got art and microbrews and so much to check out!  I mean, I wouldn’t recommend a winter trip, haha, but this time of year is a great time to live here.

Anyway – as I was thinking on drawing jewelry inspiration from anywhere in the world, I realized I get all my inspiration right here at home, so I made this piece to showcase and celebrate it.  I am sharing the full tutorial over at Craft Paper Scissors today, so if you would like to know more about how I made it, or if this inspires you to celebrate your home, then stop over to read more, and say hello while you’re there!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
