Making a #HappiMess with Delta Faucet in Chicago

So if you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you already saw that I was in Chicago this week!  I had the pleasure of touring the Delta Faucet showroom in the Merchandise Mart, and we got to try out the beautiful functionality of the Touch 2.0 faucet line up close and personal in a fun (and messy) cooking class with Gale Gand and some other great bloggers.

Oh yes, there’s my perma-grin.  I LOVE Chicago.  I’m a city girl, I can’t help it.  And getting my hands on some great Delta products and cooking tips from a Food Network chef?  I was in DIY heaven!

See, here’s the thing.  When you’re a DIY-er – whether you cook, build, paint, whatever your passion… you get messy.  Like sometimes really messy, haha.  Hey, it means you’re in the moment and embracing the experience.  That’s my zen, right there.  Cleanup will always be there when you’re done.

It was really cool to hear about some of the science behind Touch 2.0, and the other things Delta is doing with water.  I have a Touch 2.0 faucet in my kitchen already, and I will never get a regular faucet again.  I fell in love with this beauty for the bathroom while I was in the Delta showroom – their faucets are all connected, so you can actually try them out for yourself before you choose!

I love the transitional design, but what I loved most was that this bathroom faucet will automatically turn off and on without actually touching it.  Just getting within 4 inches (to brush your teeth, for example) will turn the water on.  What a great innovation for water conservation (which is always a challenge when you have little kids, like I do).

It was also really cool to compare side-by-side the spray of some of the different showerhead designs – to know exactly what it’s going to feel like before it gets installed in your bathroom.

Following the tour, they let us loose in the kitchen – with Gale Gand!  We had a fabulous treat waiting for us at The Chopping Block, where Gale shared a few recipes as we cooked along.

I will never look at Grilled Cheese Sandwiches the same way again, haha – it was one of the things we made.  And enjoyed.  Ahem.

Gale was fabulous.  She’s so down-to-earth in her cooking philosophy, which is something I appreciate and relate to.  If you’ve read here often, then you know I’m all about keeping it simple in the kitchen.  But one thing I took away from my time with a famous chef (oh, I just love writing that) is that innovation in the kitchen doesn’t have to mean that it’s complicated or difficult – sometime’s it’s just something unexpected.

Which is a little like what Delta is doing with some of their product lines, like Touch 2.0.  It’s not difficult to use, at all.  But they dreamed it up, and blew my mind.  I mean, there’s a lot more science to their faucets than there is in designing a stellar grilled cheese, but it all comes down to the innovation.  Instead of doing what’s always been done, there’s room to improve on even the classics!

It was a wonderful event, and it got my wheels turning about some of the things I’d like to do next – both in the kitchen with food, and in other areas of my house with some home improvement projects!  So I’ll be making a #HappiMess a lot in the coming weeks and months… as it should be, right?

What kinds of great messes are you making lately?

Adrianne Signature

Why do people treat mess like it’s a bad thing? It’s actually the evidence of a life well lived. When you’re out there making, creating, doing and playing, embrace your #HappiMess and let Delta kitchen and bath innovations help clean up so you can do it all again tomorrow.

That looks like SO much fun, Adrianne! And that little shower room with all of the shower heads going? How cool! I’d love to have to to choose from when picking a shower head!

And we’re planning to get a Touch 2.0 in our kitchen as well – I’m so glad to hear that you like yours!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
