Lamps Make a Difference!

12/19/2012 Adrianne Surian 13 Comments

We are in overhaul mode at my house.  Or at least – I am.  I mention from time to time that we live in a tiny condo, which makes decor a challenge – because every space has to be 100% functional, and not just pretty.  (Ideally it’s both, though I confess – some areas could use a bit of a facelift!)  We’ve updated and upgraded a couple of things in the last couple months, and after moving things around for Christmas, I’m in let’s-change-it-all mode!  I’ve been on the hunt for some new accents around the house to give our space some new life – my mission for the new year!
I’ve been reading up on decorating in small spaces – really, I’ve been reading up on decorating in general lately.  I’m guilty of not incorporating enough color into our scheme.   I LOVE the color brown – it’s not just me trying to be neutral.  I wear brown quite often.  It’s warm and comforting.   But everything can’t be brown… so I’ve been on the lookout for some brighter accents.  I’ve also read – lamps make a huge difference!  So I’ve been checking out Color + Plus™ lamps in designer colors.  They are perfect!  They are bright, cheery, and customizable in SO many ways to fit everyone’s decor!

Color Plus hand-crafted glass lamps

Aside from the obvious function of lamps to provide light, a bright and colorful lamp adds visual appeal even unlit in the daytime hours.  Aren’t they gorgeous?  Color + Plus™ lamps bases come in over 60 colors, with several coordinating shades to choose from, leaving you with hundreds of possibilities to customize lamps for your home.  At the Color + Plus™ lamps website, you can use their lighting design tool to show you exactly what your lamp will look like by mixing and matching the bases and shades.  This tool is great for people like me who have a hard time envisioning what I’m looking for… I’m the type who doesn’t always know – until I see it.  I got to try several combinations before falling in love with this one – I’d love to add a pair of these to our bedroom nightstands:

Custom Designed Lamps

Isn’t it fun?  It’s SO pretty!  This is what that space looks like right now.  (See, I told you – brown.)  And I know it looks dark… I can’t wait until the days start getting longer!  I spend all my daylight hours at the office.  But, a nice lamp can of course make all the difference in lighting – and as you can see, my space needs a facelift!

Nightstand

I have to admit – this is my favorite seat in the house after Raya is in bed.  (I think she knows… or it’s just really appealing? First thing she does is climb right up there!)

Nightstand

I unwind with my book all snuggled up – I’d really love to do better at decorating this space, with as much as I enjoy sitting here.  We’re on the hunt for the perfect bedroom set now, so finishing off our final look with a pair of great looking Color + Plus™ lamps in designer colors would really make the room!

What colors do you use in your home?  Do you have a lamp that really “makes” your room?

We have super cheap reading lamps on our bedside tables. Not only are they ugly but I just recently found out that they aren’t safe when one of them almost started a fire (yes, it got that hot!). So I need to dump my lousy lamps and get one of these stylish lamps! Thanks so much for sharing! Headed to their website right now!

I live with a human tornado who has ruined all the lamps in my house. Hopefully, he is outgrowing this because I am in love with that aqua lamp!

I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
