Leather + Pewter DIY Bead Bracelet

12/15/2018 by Adrianne Surian 10 Comments

Hey friends!  I have some quick inspiration for you today and want to share this leather and pewter DIY bead bracelet that a friend asked me to make for a gift.  I held off on posting to make sure not to spoil any surprises!  This bracelet is based off the beaded leather bracelet design I posted a while back, so if you want a full tutorial, you can click through to that post and get all the instructions and tips.

I got most of these beads at one of my favorite suppliers, Happy Mango Beads, so if you see something you like, you can click here to go shopping!  (This post isn’t sponsored, I just want to share my source to get this look.)  The key here is to mix textures, shapes, and finishes all while using beads that are a similar size.  A bit of sparkle and shine, mixed with the earthy leather gives it a boho-chic look.  Below are some of the beads I used (and considered – the brown polka dot ones proved to be too big for my taste).  These beads are primarily 6mm – 9mm sizes, and they all have a 2mm hole to accommodate the leather.

I added I short length of chain to the glue-on end caps to make the size more adjustable (since this was a gift, and I was told the recipient had small wrists).  This isn’t necessary if you’re making this DIY bead bracelet for yourself, of course, but a feature to consider if you’re making a gift.

I’ll be back soon with more creative goodness!  I’m in the process of moving (this makes 3 times in the past 9 months!) but I’m settling in to my long term place and LOVING the space.  I’m looking forward to getting back in the swing of things and I can’t wait to show you some of my new ideas for 2018!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
