Holy cow, friends.  What. A. Day.  ArtPrize is now officially underway, which means I’ve switched from being excited and counting down the days, to thinking about who might be voting for my art, whether I left enough cards, whether I brought enough quarters for the parking meter, whether I’m smiling enough (or, too much??)… all those things that make a girl go just a little bit crazy trying to make my best impression!  There’s so much in that first hello when you meet someone new, isn’t there?

I’m not alone in it, though, I’ve had the chance not only to meet some great art fans, but also some great fellow artists whose art is on display in the same venue as mine.  It’s actually been quite a while since I’ve met so many new people, and for the next two weeks, we’re all going to be great friends!  So I whipped up a couple sweet gifts that anyone (crafty or not) can give to a brand new friend.

Because, of course, who doesn’t love some CHOCOLATE… especially on such a big day?

And also, when it comes to making a good first impression, it’s not all about making the *perfect* first impression.  It’s about being sweet and genuine – start with a simple hello!  I had to remind myself of that, and it really settled my nerves, and made me feel more confident.  Not only can I handle the competition but I stand to make some great connections, and maybe even some great friendships, during my time at ArtPrize.
