Hey friends! I hope you’re having a great summer! I have a fun mixed metal design to share with you with a bee theme. Whether you’re the queen bee or just trying to “bee yourself” – you’ll love this DIY necklace. The best part is that it makes up quickly – in 10 minutes or less!
The double chain and chunky bail make a bold statement. And, printed on the backside of this pendant is a message that reads, “Bee Yourself Everyone Else Is Taken” – which is a sentiment I just love! I found today’s supplies at today’s post sponsor, Happy Mango Beads, which is one of my favorite sources for unique and natural beads and accents. I set off the copper tones with a small emerald stone bead, and if you click any of the links below, you can shop or learn more about these components!
Here’s what you will need for today’s bee-themed DIY necklace:
- Bee Yourself Copper Wax Seal Pendant (there are other bee-themed wax seal pendants to! Just search “bee”)
- Pewter bail
- 6mm emerald rondelle bead
- 1 – copper eye pin
- 1 – 12mm copper lobster clasp
- 3 – 5mm copper jump rings
- 36 inches copper chain
- Flush Cutters
- Round Nose Pliers
- Chain Nose Pliers
Begin by threading the emerald bead onto an eye pin, and use the round nose pliers to form a second loop/eye on the open end. Wrap the end of the pin around the round pliers, overlapping it as shown above. Then, trim any excess wire with flush cutters.
Next, connect the pendant to the bead connector you just made using a 5mm jump ring. The beaded connector can be twisted open and closed again.
Cut your chain into 2- 18″ lengths, and thread it through your bail.
Add a jump ring to each of the ends of your two chains, connecting them together, and add a lobster clasp to one of the ends.
Finally, attach the pendant to the bail using the loop of your beaded connector.
It’s that simple! Mixing and matching different sizes, textures, and themes can give you the unique look you’re going for – all while making a statement. Bee yourselves, friends – everyone else is already taken, after all. See you again soon!
What is the size for your metal necklace?

The style of this necklace looks really weird!
Hi Adrianne – just discovered your website and LOVE it!! Your instructions are clear and easy to follow – I’ve made a couple of bracelets already. Question – is there a way to search your site for a specific type of project – for example, “leather wrap bracelets”? Thanks!
