Pomegranate Cosmo

You know what?  This has been just a really crappy week.  Nothing like what people battling wildfires are going through or anything, but I am just going to admit right now… I am not in the mood to write a tutorial for this morning’s post.  The grand total of this week so far really just has me in the mood for a cosmopolitan.  So I am going to share a variation on what is probably my all-time favorite grown-up beverage.

I realize it’s 6:00 am when this post goes live, but I assure you, this was a last-night pity party, right after I’m pretty sure I broke my little toe running into a piece of furniture, after a stressful couple of days.  Even my best blog-friends can attest, I’ve been pretty absent this week (sorry, ladies!)  But I’ll spare you any more complaining – and skip right to the good stuff. ;)

Pomegranate Cosmopolitan

  • 1 – 1/4 oz. vodka
  • 1 – 1/4 oz. pomegranate juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz. triple sec (or Cointreau, if you have some, it’s just not worth buying a whole bottle for 1/2 oz.)
  • splash of lime juice

Chill your glass by filling it with ice water while you mix your drink.  That’s mine chilling in the lower left corner.

Add a few ice cubes to your shaker tin.  Measure your ingredients into your tin and shake it up.

Dump the ice water from your glass, and rim it with sugar, if you like.  To do that, just run a damp paper towel (or a lime wedge, if you have one – I did not) around the rim of your glass, spoon a small mound of sugar onto a plate, and drag the dampened rim through the sugar.  It will stick.  Like sweet magic. :P

Now, just pour and enjoy!

Sorry about the crabbiness today, I know this post is lacking my usual wit and charm… feel free to go browse something out of the archives if you’re missing it today. ;) See you tonight for Happy Hour Friday!

I link up to these great parties!

Thank you for posting this! I had a less-than-stellar week too! One day I even wore a mismatched pair of shoes to work (a good excuse to buy a new pair during lunch). I am having one of these with you – cheers!

LOL – you're entitled to a bit of crabbiness. Sorry you are having a rough week. Our AC broke last week and won't be fixed until they start to manufacture the big important part in AUGUST. What? So, I'm with ya sister, let's toast a couple of these. Looks yummy and cooling.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
