Preparing Your Table For Holiday Parties

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We had a few friends over this weekend for a Christmas party – our first of the season.  I like to keep things simple when we have guests over, but I still want things to look good!  With the help of Dollar General Holiday décor I was able to easliy and inexpensively outfit my table for my guests!

Dollar General has lower prices than most other stores, and I was able to get everything I needed: plates, napkins, serving dishes – and even some cute additions to help dress up the table!

We don't have a formal style (or formal space, for that matter) so parties for us are an easy buffet-style.  I served barbecue chicken sandwiches and chips, meatballs, cheese and crackers and some Christmas sweets.  People brought along a few other things to eat as well – which maxed out our table space.  I love having some Christmas touches at the table, but the main focus is always the food itself!

I got this adorable "Snow" decoration, and went with a snowflake theme.  Even though we weren't sitting down to a dinner at the table, the placemats under the serving dishes added a pretty pop of red.

One thing I learned over the years is when you serve buffet-style, that silverware and napkins need to be easy to get to – people forget to grab them all the time! I wrap them up with a bit of coordinating ribbon.  Not only does it look nice and add colorful details to your table, but people just have to grab one and they have everything they need – I always wrap the silverware like this for parties!

Dinner was simple – I made the chicken and the meatballs in the crockpot in the morning, and just set out the cheese ball and the rest of it just before guests arrived.  I'm ALL about the stress-free party – it gives me more time to have fun and enjoy our friends!

Don't forget to like Dollar General on Facebook to get access to coupons and news!  There's a great selection of Dollar General Holiday décor for whatever kind of party you like to throw – what's your style?

The table looks so good! I love the idea of wrapping the napkins around the silverware (or plasticware). :)

Loving the “snow” sign and the little details like the placemats and wrapped flatware, those add to the party theme.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
