Celebrating Good Brushing And Smilestones

05/14/2015 by Adrianne Surian 3 Comments

Protecting my kids’ smiles is a priority for me, so I’m proud to tell you that today’s post is sponsored by Orajel™ Kids.  We’ve used their products since Raya first began teething, and ever since then, I’ve worked with the kids to set a good brushing routine.  It can be a challenge at their ages – Raya is in preschool and more interested in playing, and Roman is still waiting on a few teeth to come in, but I’m happy to say, I’ve got two good brushers, so far!

If you’re a parent, you know – those smiles are important.  You love to see them!  When I was growing up, my parents impressed on me the importance of taking care of my teeth – my dad had dentures already at age 45, and they didn’t want us to have to go through the same thing.  So we started early, and my kids did too.  Fortuantely, Orajel Kids makes it fun for them with the characters they love!

For Roman, Orajel Kids has a Thomas & Friends™ Fluoride-Free Training Toothpaste perfect for little brushers aged 3 months to 2 years old.   It’s also available with My Little Pony™, and it’s what we started Raya on, too!  I let him brush on his own while his sister is brushing, and then I take over after she wraps up, and make sure all his teeth get the proper care.

Raya has graduated to the Bubble Guppies™ Fluoride Toothpaste (for kids 2 and up, transitioning to a fluoride toothpaste), and she is brushing all on her own now, after a couple years of coaching.  They love the characters and the flavors, and I love that they enjoy brushing time so much.

In the morning, they’ve got to brush first thing before they can have any toys or TV time, and they have to brush when they put on jammies.  But because I try to make it a fun time (and especially now that they each have their own sink) there’s often a spontaneous brushing session and water playtime in the afternoon, too.  Hey – I’m not about to discourage it!  I don’t care how often we run out of toothpaste if it helps them develop a positive attitude about taking care of their teeth. And besides, it’s a great bonding time. Roman looks to his big sister to learn just what to do, and she’s happy to show him.

Orajel Kids wants to celebrate your kids’ healthy smiling milestones – their Smilestones – with the Smilestones Birthday Sweepstakes!  Just share a photo of your kids healthy birthday smiles with Orajel to enter, and one lucky winner will get an Orajel Kids product gift pack, and the chance to win a $2,000 gift card to use for the ultimate birthday party!  Entering just takes a minute, and you could be celebrating that next Smilestone in style.

I love my kids’ birthday photos, and I can’t resist sharing their birthday Smilestones today.  My kids’ first cakes!

This is my Raya on her first birthday, trying cake for the first time, and loving on daddy.  She’s always such a ham when she’s the center of attention.

And Roman?  He got a whole smash cake to himself, and didn’t eat one single bite!  Turns out, he’s not a cake fan (though he did enjoy the smashing part).

I know you’ve got some gems of your kids too, so be sure to get those cuties entered in the Orajel™ Smilestones Birthday Photo Sweepstakes for your chance to win!

No matter what stage your kids are at – whether teething, brushing all by themselves, or somewhere in-between, Orajel Kids has them covered to protect that smile.  And bonus, you can save on your next Orajel purchase by printing out this $1 off coupon!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Orajel™ Kids.

Thanks so much! I know I’m biased, haha – but I can’t help sharing sometimes. :)

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
