The Makeover Has Begun: New Kitchen Sink and Delta Faucet!

Thank you Delta for sponsoring this post.

I am so happy to have a few home improvement projects completed in our new house, whew!  Most have been small, but the first big one was giving our kitchen sink area a makeover with a new Delta Touch2O faucet and a new granite sink. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot – but starting with the kitchen sink area was the most important place for me.  So much of life happens at the kitchen sink, doesn’t it?  It’s all everyday stuff – doing the dishes, getting meals ready.  Even giving your babies their baths or letting the kids play in the water – it’s simple things, but this is a central area in a central room.  Your kitchen sink is important!

(Yes, this is my daughter “helping” me peel apples for pies last week!  You see what I mean?)

When we moved in a little over two months ago, we were so happy with everything but the kitchen.  It’s laid out well, it’s functional – but a few things *had* to go.  The sink was #1 on the list. Maybe you remember:

We picked out Delta’s Linden Touch2O faucet, and installed a new granite sink.  The difference is night and day!

The new faucet is awesome.  I wasn’t sure if I would really use the Touch2O Technology much, but now that I have it, I LOVE it, and I never want to have a manual faucet again!  It’s perfect for when you just need a little bit of water – it’s so easy to just touch it on and off.  I never considered a manual handle to be cumbersome, so I was a skeptic about whether this would really improve my time in the kitchen, but it won me over within the first few hours of having it in!  (The only downside?  I find myself trying to “touch” the faucet at work and at our friends’ houses.  I’m that used to it, and that spoiled now, haha!!)

If you haven’t seen Delta’s Touch2O Technology before, let me show you how it works.  I just love this video – it’s the “Instrumental Touch” commercial where I first saw Delta’s touch technology.

I confess, picked out this faucet purely for looks, because it’s goregous! My husband and I browsed through the styles, and as soon as we saw this one, we both decided on the spot that it’s the one we wanted.

The functionality of it is equally impressive to me. When my hands are messy, it’s so nice to use my forearm or the hand of my hand to touch the water on.  That saves me from wiping it down fifteen times a day to keep the area clean, and cuts out the cross-contamination risks as well.  (So when you are rinsing, say, raw chicken off your hands, you never have to worry about getting germs all over your faucet, only to be picked up again on your clean hands when you go to shut it off.) The auto-off feature is wonderful too.  The automatic shutoff fills our size sink about 80% (which keeps toddlers from accidentally overflowing the sink during waterplay), and is the perfect basin for a quick dish-washing session.

We have some more work to do to the get whole kitchen into the shape I want, but I am so, SO happy about how the makeover is starting out!

I love the faucet! I had wondered how well those worked. The idea of not having to touch the sink when I’m cooking (or when my husband has been working in the yard) is a beautiful thing! Thanks for sharing! :)

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
