Updating Roman’s Nursery and a $100 Home Depot Giveaway!

Thank you to The Home Depot for sponsoring this post.

So we’ve been in our new house for 3 months.  Roman is nearly 3 months old now (yes, that was close, and I wouldn’t recommend moving at 8 1/2 months pregnant, haha) and we are finally getting into enough of a routine that we’re able to finally tackle some of the home improvement projects we knew we wanted to do when we bought the house.

Roman

VERY first order of business in Roman’s room – new carpet, stat!

Roman's Nursery: Before

This photo was from the first showing , right before we made our offer.  It’s a wonderful space, but that outdated red carpet just took over the whole room!  So the first order of business once the place was ours was to have new carpet installed – brown, this time – and it made a huge difference.  I sure am glad when I’m in there barefoot at 3 am to have a nice soft carpet under my feet!

The Home Depot gets this phenomenon.  Completely. Their line of SoftSpring™ Carpet is inspiring moms to step into motherhoon with durable and attractive flooring options.  It comes in over 50 styles and 28 colors, it’s protected with Scotchguard protector advanced repel technology and comes with a comprehensive warranty including lifetime stain, soil, anti-static, pet urine stain protection and more.  Because… babies and kids can get messy.  Moms know this!

The 100% premium soft nylon with twice the fiber of regular soft nylon gives SoftSpring™ Carpet an amazing soft touch.  The Home Depot also offers a lifetime guarantee on carpet installation and their installers are screened and fully insured with a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability protection, so moms can trust that it will get done right!

SoftSpring™ Carpet is machine-made in the USA and ranges in price from $2.27-$5.19 per square foot, plus installation.

I’ve been gathering some other ideas for the nursery, too.  Aside from the carpet and Roman’s things, I haven’t made many changes to the room yet.  (You can check out my Dream Nursery Pinterest board to see what I’ve been looking at!)  All I’ve done so far is touch up the existing paint and cover up some of the hand-painted additions the previous owners made – they painted quite a bit of red trying to tie in the color of the bad carpet to the room, and with that gone, I went back to the brown and blue.  Here’s how Roman’s room looks today:

Roman's Nursery: In-Progress

Big improvement, wouldn’t you say? I still have additions planned here and there (curtains, some vinyl wall art, and to give the little chest currently under the window a nice makeover) but at least the update that packs the biggest punch is finished!

The Home Depot and The Bump have partnered in a great sweepstakes offering 4 lucky moms the chance to build their dream nursery with $4700 in prizes to be won!  To enter – just visit The Bump’s Facebook page and enter the Sweepstakes area!

At Home Depot I would hit the lighting department for a new lamp, some soft, ambient lighting, and if there were any funds remaining I would use it toward an indoor air purifying plant, every little bit helps when it comes to health.

I’d love to paint and decorate, but I’d really probably add storage & shelves instead :) Necessary stuff first, before we get to the pretty stuff! :)

Love seeing the progress you have made. Good job! And your little Roman is adorable. I have four grandsons (no girls yet) so maybe I’m a little partial to boys. He’s a cutie!

I agree, no nursery here anymore, but my son’s room needs a new coat of paint – not sure exactly how boys manage to destroy walls so quickly!

Our children are out of the nursery stage, however, both of our kids’ rooms are in desperate need of new shades, the roller ones are cracked, didn’t last long at all. We would love the honeycomb ones, but they are expensive, $100 would help cut that cost.
