Watermelon Martini

Good morning!  This is going to be a quickie post, but I have a share-worthy beverage recipe I enjoyed last night.  Yes, instead of being crafty… it was a relaxing evening, what can I say?  Certainly, you can’t begrudge a girl a fantastic martini to kick off the weekend? ;)

Watermelon Martini

  • 1 1/4 oz. vodka
  • 1 1/4 oz. triple sec
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • 2 – 3 oz. watermelon juice
  • 1/2 oz. lime juice

I don’t have photos of all the steps for this post, but they are pretty straightforward.  If you find yourself with questions, you can browse some of my other drink recipes where I’ve gone into more detail, or just drop me a note!

First of all, if you don’t already know how to make simple syrup, here is the recipe.

Second of all – let’s juice a watermelon, shall we?  You won’t need to do the whole thing – in fact, I just got a personal sized watermelon, and used 1/4 of it (which made 2 drinks).  Watermelons are mostly juice already, but I just cubed it up (reserving a couple slices for garnish of course) and ran it through the food processor to make a puree, then pushed it through the strainer to catch the seeds and the pulp.  If you have a better method for juicing – go for it!  The end result is that you’ll want a pulp-free juice, because watermelon can be pretty grainy, which is fine for eating but not so great for drinking. :)

Then just pour your ingredients into a shaker tin with a few ice cubes and shake it up, rim your glass with sugar if you like, and pour!  Repeat as desired – and have a fabulous weekend!

I link up to these great parties!

For something faster, you may want to try some watermelon juice that is sold in the carton. I have seen it at Target.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
