White Hot Cocoa

12/03/2012 by Adrianne Surian 13 Comments

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a sucker for treat beverages.  Hot beverages, cold beverages, adult beverages – if you want to win me over, share a drink with me. :)

White Hot Cocoa Mix

I have a twist on traditional cocoa today after seeing a white chocolate pudding mix.  On a whim, I wondered if I could use it to make a hot drink mix – and it’s both simple and delicious!

White Hot Cocoa Recipe:

  • 1 c. nonfat dry milk
  • 1 – 3.3 oz. package white chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 c. (4 oz.) grated or ground white chocolate

You can use either white chocolate chips or baking chocolate for this recipe.  To grind it up to dissolve easily, I ran white chocolate baking squares through my coffee mill.  (Just take care that your motor doesn’t start to get warm – otherwise you could end up with a melty mess.  Mine only started to get warm at the end, but that could have been quite a hassle to clean up if it had gotten any warmer.)

White Hot Cocoa

Stir your ingredients together and store in an airtight jar until ready to use.  Mix 2-3 tsp. for each 1 c. hot water.  For a normal-sized mug, that will be about 2 Tbsp. of mix.  Stir well to be sure the chocolate melts.  Then enjoy!  You can optionally garnish it with a candy cane or peppermint stick.

White Hot Cocoa Mix

As with nearly every mix, this packages up to gift nicely – just be sure to include instructions!

What are your favorite cold-weather beverages?

When I 1st made this I liked the consistency but the flavor was lacking. I realized that I had only use 4 oz of white chocolate listed on the ingredient list instead of 1 cup (also listed but is actually 8oz). It helped but I didn’t think it was sweet enough so I also added 1/4 Cup powder sugar. It’s perfect flavor wise. I think next time I’ll swap out the nonfat milk for regular powder milk for a creamier consistency.

My lil sister was wanting some white chocolate cocoa… couldn’t find it in the stores so I looked hoping to find a recipe and this came up. I made a batch and now I need to go back to the store and get more ingredients so I can make myself my own batch :)

After drinking half of my cup, i decided to add a little bit of peppermint Torani syrup. SOOO DELICIOUS, With or without the syrup, it’s awesome.

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
