How To Make a Party Tray To Go

This post is sponsored by Kellogg’s.

My mom does a lot for me.  It’s mostly the typical “grandma” stuff – watching the kids, helping with a load of laundry or two every so often – but it’s really appreciated.  I don’t have a lot of opportunity to return the favor because she just doesn’t need that much help.  But recently, she had a really special day, and I helped out by bringing a little informal party to her!  I put together a simple and quick cracker tray with dips, cheeses and meat (because who doesn’t love Town House crackers, right?) and we headed over to her house for a small celebration.

I do want to share a really special family moment with you guys today, and the reason for our little celebration.  This is my mom – at her baptism!

Not many kids get to witness that for their parents, and I’m so happy for her.  But with it being such a big day, the last thing I wanted her to worry about was entertaining.  It was her day to enjoy, so I put a little party together, and I brought it to her!  I didn’t make it elaborate or fancy – sometimes, simple is the best approach.  (It’s my philosophy that easy entertaining is the best kind there is!)

On small plates and bowls, I put together mix-and-match finger foods, and I added paper plates and cocktail napkins.  I dished it up to be ready-to-serve, and covered the dishes with plastic wrap.  That way, all I had to do was bring in the tray and take off the wrap, and the party was on!  Here’s what I put on my tray:

  • Town House Original Crackers
  • Town House Pita Crackers
  • Town House Pretzel Crackers
  • Town House Flatbread Crackers
  • Spinach dip (click for the recipe)
  • Muffuletta olive dip (click for the recipe)
  • Havarti cheese
  • Colby-Jack cheese
  • Sliced salami
  • Carrot sticks
  • Celery sticks

Also consider adding things like easy spreads, hummus, pickles, fruits, or other veggies.  The key is a simple variety – things to dip, layer, spread, and crunch!  Town House has flavors for every way to enjoy crackers, whether you’re a pour-and-serve type, a dipper, or a cracker stacker!

It was a wonderful day, and I was so happy to make it easy for my mom so that she could enjoy it – it was just a bonus that it was easy for me to put together, too.  I even left the tray at her house as a little gift.  I know she’s making lots of new friends right now, and it’s a great accessory for entertaining – and next time, she can take an easy party to go, too!

Hello, and welcome! I'm Adrianne, an artist, author, designer, and blogger in mid Michigan. I work from home, chase my two kids, and this once-city-girl is learning how to care for chickens and adjusting to life out in the country. I have a compulsion for daily creativity... sometimes it's jewelry-making, paper crafting, metal stamping, mixing and baking, or giving new life to recycled items. But with 2 young kids, time is short! My goal here at Happy Hour Projects is to share projects and tips that you can do in an hour or less. The ideas you find here are designed to add a little creativity in your day, no matter how much (or how little) time you have!
